This World For Rent

We came to this world for rent.
And we pay the price every day.
Life is redeemed by deeds,
with bitter lessons, with love for strangers.

Life is worth it! How much will you pay?
The value is different for everyone.
You can forgive your enemy---
depends on how much you will love.

Why do you think it's a gift?
Was it just given to you for merit?
Wasting a single day,
you lose a lot; you lose an awful lot.

Don't pile things up, pile up simplicity,
fill yourself with emotions and joy.
And if you stay until night,
give them to a friend in the morning.

There is no one to save you from the grave.
And time is running out mercilessly.
You don't need houses and cars,
and someone to love you.

You came to this world for a short time.
You don't have to build palaces.
Build hope, faith, kindness.
Create life, long for freedom.

And believe that beauty is truly sadness.
There is nothing more beautiful than the sunset today!
Set yourself with dignity, without guilt---
And with a strong and big smile.

Live so that on your last day,
you can let your children walk with pride,
let your enemy bow his head,
and see the heavens weep greatly.
